VMI Corps Physical Training Facility
About
THIS PROJECT
The Corps Physical Training Facility at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) is a 205,000 SF indoor training facility for cadets. This building provides VMI with a much-needed indoor, all-weather facility for their military-based training programs, as well as a practice facility for the track and field team. The 90,000 SF training area includes a hydraulically banked, six-lane, 200-meter NCAA track with two sets of eight 60-meter sprint straights and two long/triple jump and vault runways. There is also an elevated, 350-meter track above the main floor for warm-up and cool-down, a rock-climbing wall, high ropes course and obstacle courses throughout the facility.
