Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA)

In Sarasota, Florida, the Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA) will be constructed in two phases and serve as one of the region’s great landmarks at its nexus location near Interstate-75. Phase I includes preparation and sitework for the building pad, while Phase II consists of the construction of the aquarium. The 110,000 SF educational facility will focus on bringing an interactive experience to all its visitors. The building pad is designed as a small peninsula that intersects a popular area lake and will require 140,000 cubic yards of dirt, delivered by 7,000 truckloads. Mote SEA, containing over one million gallons of water, will feature animals from around the world, along with interactive tech displays, three STEM teaching labs, on-site diving programs, and a multipurpose event space.
