Environmental Studies and The School of Engineering and Applied Science, Princeton University
Princeton University’s Environmental Studies and the School of Engineering and Applied Science (ES & SEAS) project will include the construction of four buildings, connected underground, and span over 665,700 SF of the campus. The four buildings — environmental science, bioengineering, chemical and biological engineering, and an engineering commons — will include advanced facilities for seven academic departments, institutes and centers. ES & SEAS will further environmental studies that teach global challenges related to biodiversity, conservation, climate, energy and environmental policy. The project is designed to help achieve the University’s sustainability goals, including features such as:
- Energy-efficient HVAC system and controls
- Energy-efficient lighting and controls
- Geo-exchange heating and cooling
- A green roof
- Healthier materials and finishes
- Heat recovery systems for air handling units
- High-performance exteriors
- LEED certification
- Rainwater harvesting
