The John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide
The John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide will be developed on a 445-acre site in Chatham County, North Carolina. The facility will manufacture silicon carbide wafers and send them to the company’s production facility in New York. Silicon carbide wafers are needed to fabricate silicon carbide chips, which are commonly used in a variety of electronics, renewable energy storage and electric vehicles. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
Wolfspeed is a global leader in the production of silicon carbide materials and devices which support sustainability through a more efficient use of energy than traditional semiconductor technology.
