THIS PROJECT
Towson University’s 320,000 SF science building is used for teaching and research in the fields of biology, physics, astronomy, geosciences, chemistry and environmental sciences.
The six-story building is comprised of five levels of concrete-framed structure and two steel-framed mechanical penthouses. A centrally-located, multi-story atrium provides student work and collaboration spaces anchored by theater-style seating that connects to a Student Success Center. Additionally, the complex features:
- 50 teaching laboratories
- 30 research laboratories
- 50 classrooms
- 10 collaborative student spaces
- Eight lecture halls
- An outdoor classroom
- A rain garden for stormwater control
- Planetarium
