The Flat Iron Hotel

About

THIS PROJECT

The Flat Iron Hotel project consisted of renovating a nine-story, 63,000 SF building in Asheville, North Carolina. It features architectural details from the 1920s, with a marble staircase and terrazzo floors. The project team was able to repurpose the old basement boiler room into a new speakeasy bar and lounge which showcases the original coal burning shaft and doors. Amenities in this historic hotel include:

  • Italian restaurant
  • Rooftop bar
  • Craft cocktail bar
  • Underground speakeasy
  • Café
  • Co-work and event space

In 1979, the Flatiron Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since the building was historic, based on certain defining features, the client obtained historic tax credits for the project.
