KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary
About
THIS PROJECT
KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary, located in Dallas, Texas, is a new K-8 Charter School that was completed in three phases. The school was founded in 2017 with K-2 classes and will continue to add one grade level each year until it becomes a fully enrolled K-8 in 2020. Phase I of the project was a two-story, wood-frame, 70,000 SF facility that included 32,200 SF of tenant interior work, consisting of:
- 16 classrooms
- Administrative offices
- Cafeteria/kitchen
- Stage area
- Playground
- Soccer field
To open their doors as soon as possible, the team implemented a schedule of seven months for the first phase. This allowed KIPP to commence elementary classes while design and planning for Phase II was ongoing. Phase II consisted of interior work to the remaining 37,000 SF for additional classrooms. Phase III was a standalone, pre-engineered metal building for a gymnasium. Whiting-Turner has managed construction for approximately 155 new classrooms at three campuses for KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).
