Fort Worth Zoo Predators of Asia and Africa

About

THIS PROJECT

The Predators of Asia and Africa exhibit is the third phase of the Wilder Vision Master plan, and included a four-acre renovation. The exhibit features custom animal containment systems which allows the zoo to tailor to the specific needs of the animals. Animals that live in the exhibit include:

  • African leopards
  • Clouded leopards
  • Cheetahs
  • Lions
  • Tigers
  • African painted dogs
  • Striped hyenas
  • Tragopans
  • Wattled cranes
  • Storm storks
  • Red crown cranes
  • Hornbills

The reimagined habitats provide more space to the animals and consist of giant, artificial tree structures for the animals to climb and interact with.  Additional structures such as rockwork features, water features, viewing platforms, pedestrian railings, signage and props were all customized to appear as the animals’ natural environment.

This project is Whiting-Turner’s fourth completed project at the Fort Worth Zoo. Click the links below to view two other Fort Worth Zoo projects featured on our website.
