THIS PROJECT
Fred Pirkle Engineering Technology Center is a 53,500 SF, state-of-the-art facility that serves as the new home to the Sam Houston State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Engineering Technology. The facility houses a combination of laboratories, classrooms, computer laboratories, research areas, administrative areas and supporting spaces.
Specific areas of the building include:
- Machine and woodworking shops
- Small wet laboratory
- Two clean manufacturing areas
- Group meeting rooms
- Faculty office areas
- Faculty office areas
- Electronics/robotics laboratory
- Energy systems/sustainability laboratory
- CAD laboratories
- Multi-purpose classrooms
- Floral design laboratory
- Fred Pirkle honorific museum
- Wind tunnel
- Agribusiness computer laboratory/seminar room
- Wildlife/physiology laboratories with adjoining research space
The four-story building’s exterior features include a courtyard in the center of the building, a terrace accessible from the energy systems/sustainability laboratory, as well as a collaboration driveway and yard.
