THIS PROJECT
This Town of East Hartford Fire House 5 project consisted of a single-story, 16,000 SF fire station with a wood truss roof and a brick exterior with artisan lap siding. The facility replaces a station originally built in the 1930s and includes:
- Two double-deep bays for the engine and rescue company
- Sleeping quarters
- Kitchen and dining facility
- Training room
- Fitness area
- Locker and shower facilities
Sustainable features include:
- 16 geothermal wells
- Solar panels
- Rain gardens
- Radient slab in the maintenance bay
This project achieved LEED® Gold certification and is the first LEED Gold fire station in Connecticut.
