About

THIS PROJECT

The American Airlines Hangar 9 Renovation consisted of a complete refurbishment of a 50-year-old hangar at Boston’s Logan International Airport. The hangar covers over 73,000 SF, can accommodate three aircrafts and features a ground service equipment facility with four bays.

The facility also includes:

  • Aircraft maintenance and parts rooms
  • Larger aircraft doors
  • Automotive mechanic's shop
  • Freight lift and passenger elevator
  • New rooftop units
  • Offices and a break room
  • Fully equipped training room

The facility was built to Massachusetts Port Authority Sustainable Design Standards and Guidelines. It was constructed using recycled, energy-efficient and regionally produced materials. In addition, the hangar is fully insulated and incorporates energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, as well as motion-activated lighting.
